Zianna Oliphant recently gave an emotional speech at the Charlotte City Council in anger and protest against violence in her community. At just nine years old, she was able to bring attention to police brutality as well as the Black Lives Matter movement on a national level. Her mother explained that her speech was unplanned, and the emotions that Zianna evoked were due to her passion for equality.
“We are Black people and we shouldn’t have to feel like this. We shouldn’t have to protest because y’all are treating us wrong.”
